Visiting Assistant Professor in Studio Art

Wabash College invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Studio Art with an emphasis in painting and drawing to teach in a small but energetic Art Department. This appointment is for one academic year beginning July 1, 2009. Applicants for this position should have an MFA and teaching abilities in painting, drawing, and 2-D Foundations. Consideration will be given to candidates with a strong commitment to the liberal arts and interests in a strong relationship between studio work, art history, and the exhibition program. Some college-level teaching preferred. Candidates are expected to show evidence of ongoing professional/creative work in their field. Candidates can anticipate teaching two beginning courses and one advanced course per semester, and will be given the opportunity to have a solo exhibition of their work. Coordinator of Advancement Research

Coordinator of Advancement Research Position type: Staff Department: College Advancement—Advancement Services Wabash College invites applications for the position of Coordinator of Advancement Research. The Coordinator of Advancement Research secures and compiles publicly-available information regarding current donors, prospective donors, alumni, and friends of Wabash College for use by the College Advancement staff, other College staff including the President’s Office, and select volunteers. The Coordinator of Advancement Research manages the prospect and donor pool ensuring tracking of all relevant moves management activities and facilitating efficiency and productivity on the part of all Advancement staff members. Primary responsibilities of the position: - Provide research leadership for the Wabash Advancement Office including Major Gifts, the Annual Fund, Alumni & Parent Relations, and other College staff including select volunteers. Complete primary research on current donors and prospective donors in support of these offices.
- Manage the College’s prospect management and tracking system including the coordination of all administrative aspects of the moves management system. Includes staff assignments, wealth and affinity rating levels, solicitation tracks, and ensuring accurate moves management tracking.
- Establish a framework to receive online “news alerts,” “push technology,” or other sources of available public information in order to track news and relevant data on key constituents.
- Regularly update Advancement staff on trends impacting philanthropic giving and recommend donor groups most likely to be successful for cultivation and solicitation.
- Provide research analysis of the College’s constituents.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Library Science preferred. A liberal arts education, experience working with alumni, and a minimum of three years of relevant experience in College Advancement preferred. The position requires knowledge of electronic resources, internet search techniques, and research tools. In addition, the position requires excellent written, interpersonal, and organizational skills; experience in data analysis; and willingness to work within a larger team of development professionals. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to interpret, analyze, and summarize complex biographical, business, and personal financial data from multiple sources. Director of Safety and Security

Wabash College invites applications for a new Director of Safety and Security. This position will be responsible for organizing and managing the safety, security, and emergency preparedness for the Wabash College campus and will oversee building and campus security, including the direct supervision of personnel responsible for securing buildings and night-time campus patrols. The Director will assess, recommend, implement, and manage any needed changes to campus security, shaping this office and its operations within the College’s student-centered culture. He or she will assume responsibility for coordinating emergency response on the Wabash campus. Working with the College’s Safety Committee, the Director will coordinate regulatory compliance and reporting, and participate in the development of the College’s Emergency Preparedness Plans. Anticipated start of February 1, 2009 is negotiable. Qualifications: Five years of experience in emergency response activities, such as, but not limited to, Fire and Rescue, Law Enforcement, or Emergency Management or a comparable combination of work and educational experience is expected. A knowledge of incident command required; National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) certification preferred. Evidence of an ability to both supervise and work cooperatively with students, members of a College community, and emergency and governmental agencies is required. Attention to detail and to deadlines, as well as an ability to work with governmental regulations, is expected.
